Project description
Žakanje is a municipality in the north-western part of Karlovacka county, close to the border with Slovenia. In the centre of the municipality, where in total 37 residential and commercial buildings are located, larger buildings are heated with light fuel oil, while in residential buildings either light fuel oil or wood are used for heating. Taking into account the positive effects of biomass utilisation on the local community, the Municipality council started the project of installation of a biomass district heating system for the Žakanje municipality. The project applied and was positively evaluated at the call for proposals from the Environment Protection and Energy Efficiency Fund and is currently in the implementation phase. The North-western Croatia Regional Energy Agency is providing support to the project implementation in the form of consultancy services.
