Encouraging the use of renewable energy sources by individuals in Karlovac county - I can have solar panels!
Due to the rising prices of fossil fuels as well as the strengthening of the awareness of the need to preserve the environment today, the interest for using solar energy in water heating is growing again. Karlovac County Government decided to initiate the project "Promoting the use of renewable energy sources by individuals in Karlovac county," from the North-west Croatia Regional Energy Agency. The first phase of the project would cover 60 households in Karlovac County, into which solar systems for heating and water heating would be installed. The total cost of the preparation and implementation of the project is estimated at the amount of 1.910.000.00 kuna, from which the individuals would participate with 1.080.000.00 kuna (56,54%), Karlovac County with 240.000.00 kuna (12,57%), and the Fund for Environmental Protection and Energy Efficiency with 590.000.00 kuna (30,89%) of financial assistance. The total cost of equipment and the installation of solar systems into households will be co-financed with the amount of 40% or up to the maximum of 12 000 kuna per household. Total annual energy savings in 60 households of Karlovac County covered by this project would amount to 82 800 kWh. The project was established by the Agency which is also the executive body of the implementation. The contest is open from 15 March, and repayment of funds is expected till 15 December 2009.
